Winter ……..still

It has been another cold, windy and wet week. This has to be coming to an end soon I hope. From what I’ve been reading it has been a record setting winter all over the country. I think Al Gore is more full of crap than most politicians. He’s making a fortune on flawed and misleading data. The only thing that has ever been constant about the climate is that it is constantly changing. Back in the 70s all these brainiacs were forecasting doom & gloom due to global freezing and the coming of a new ice age.

Ok off the soap box.

Been another quiet week. Saturday we puttered around the house a little and I tried to get started scanning pictures but ran into some opposition when it came to throwing out the hard copies. Connie is having a hard time getting rid of stuff. I knew it would be difficult for her so I’m not pushing the issue too much ……..yet.

What I don’t understand about the pictures is the worry of losing them. Most of them have been stored away and are seldom if ever looked at. When I scan them they will become part of our rotating picture screen saver. Then they will be seen and a hard copy can always be printed if desired. I know she will come around to my way of approaching it if I’m patient.

Connie has been playing with her iPhone all week. Right now she is listening to Santana and singing along. I don't think she realizes she is singing out loud and it's pretty funny. Reminds me of Tom Cruise in that movie where he was singing in his underwear as he slid around the house. I'm pretty sure it was Risky Business. I hit the jackpot when I picked that gift. I haven’t been so lucky when it comes to the rest of her Valentines gifts. My usual inventive brain is in vapor lock. I can’t afford to spend the money on good jewelry right now (have to finish the remodel) and flowers don’t last so I can’t justify the amount they want for them this week. She doesn’t want to go out to eat but I’ll cook something special so that’s not a problem. I tried to buy perfume the other day but nobody carries the brand she likes around here so that was a strike out. I was near the panic stage but Jackie came through with…… err, I thought of a great idea. I’ll tell you about it next week.

Jackie, Dana & the kids are getting ready for spring break next month. I thought they were planning on Mexico but I guess the kids wanted to go camping. Jackie and her mom were looking for a campground with cabins but I think they waited too long because there aren’t any available within a decent driving distance. They then started looking at vacation rentals and found one on Richland Chambers Lake. I guess that’s where we are going. Connie says it’s Jackie’s version of camping and describes it as “glamping” aka “Glamour Camping”. We’ll have fun I’m sure. Probably won’t be much wildlife unless somebody gets too deep into the cooler. I just hope the weather breaks so we can enjoy the lake.

Our next door neighbor put his house on the market the other day. They have property up east of Dallas and plan on retiring there in 3 years. That makes eight houses for sale on our street. I guess there’s no hurry to get ours ready. I added a few months and am now planning on having it done by September. That still leaves us with nine months to sell it before retirement. If it doesn’t sell by 6/1/2011 I’ll keep working until it does. Won’t like it but I’ll do it.

Here’s a few pictures I have scanned so far…..
